Channels

Channels are the communication endpoints where your customers reach you. Talksy supports four channel types, each with its own setup process.

WhatsApp Business

Connect your WhatsApp Business account to let customers message your AI assistant directly on WhatsApp.

Before you start

Meta requires every business to own its own app. Create one at developers.facebook.com/apps, choose the WhatsApp product, and connect a phone number. Meta gives you a free test number that can message up to five recipients, which is enough to try this end to end.

Setup steps:

  1. Open your assistant, go to the Channels tab and click Add Channel.
  2. Select WhatsApp as the channel type.
  3. Paste two values from Meta: a permanent Access Token from a System User (see the note below) and your App Secret (App settings › Basic).
  4. Click Verify & connect. Talksy reads your App ID from the token, finds the WhatsApp numbers on your account, and configures your app's webhook — you do not need to go back to the Meta dashboard. If you have more than one number, pick the one this assistant should answer on.
  5. Save the channel and message your WhatsApp number to test it.
Use a permanent token. The "Generate access token" button on Meta's API Setup page produces a token that expires in 24 hours — paste that one and WhatsApp will stop working the next day. Instead, create a System User in Meta Business Settings, assign it both your app and your WhatsApp Business Account with full control, and generate a token there. Talksy warns you if it detects a short-lived token, and shows a warning on the channel before it expires.
If automatic setup can't run: when your Meta app already sends WhatsApp webhooks somewhere else, Talksy will not overwrite that. It shows you a callback URL and a verify token to paste into WhatsApp › Configuration in Meta instead. Subscribe to the messages field, then click Re-check.

Telegram

Deploy your AI assistant as a Telegram bot that responds to customer messages in real time.

Setup steps:

  1. Open Telegram and message @BotFather to create a new bot.
  2. Copy the bot token provided by BotFather.
  3. In Talksy, go to Channels > Add Channel > Telegram.
  4. Paste your bot token. Talksy will automatically set the webhook.
  5. Start a conversation with your Telegram bot to verify it's working.

Voice AI (Phone)

Give your assistant a phone number and it answers inbound calls in natural conversation, from the instructions you write for it.

Setup steps:

  1. Go to Channels > Add Channel > Voice.
  2. Choose Buy Number, pick a country and search, then buy a number. It is included in your plan.
  3. Put everything callers ask about in the assistant's instructions: hours, prices, services, and what to tell urgent callers (for example, your on-call number). On calls, the assistant answers from these instructions rather than from knowledge-base documents.
  4. Set the assistant's language on its Personality tab.
  5. Make a test call to your new number to hear your AI assistant in action.
What the voice assistant does: greets the caller, answers their questions, and ends the call politely when they are done. It does not transfer calls, book appointments or record audio; each call is logged with its time and duration in Analytics.
Some countries need paperwork. Most of Europe — Poland, Germany and Spain among them — regulates who may hold a local number. Those numbers are shown with a Documents required badge and cannot be bought directly: file the listed documents in the Telnyx portal under Numbers › Regulatory Requirements first, and buy the number once they are approved. US and Canadian numbers are available instantly.
