Where is Smith.ai the better choice?
Be honest with yourself about which of these you need, because Talksy doesn't do them:
- A human on the line. Smith.ai's hybrid and human plans put a real receptionist on complex or sensitive calls. For a law firm handling distressed prospective clients, or a medical-adjacent business, that matters.
- Booking and intake into your systems. Smith.ai qualifies leads, books appointments and pushes data into CRMs and legal case-management tools. Talksy keeps WhatsApp and Telegram conversations in its own dashboard and stops there.
- Transfers. Smith.ai can warm-transfer a caller to you. Talksy can only tell a caller which number to dial.
- Outbound follow-up, such as appointment confirmation calls by live agents.
- Spam handling built into billing. Smith.ai says known spam calls aren't billed and lets you remove up to 10% of calls as spam (AI pricing).
Where does Talksy fit better?
- Predictable cost. A flat $19, $49 or $149 a month with no per-call charges and no overage. If you get a busy month, you won't get a surprise bill; the assistant pauses at the limit instead, so pick a plan with headroom.
- Messaging channels. Talksy answers WhatsApp and Telegram with the same assistant that answers your phone, and on those channels it searches documents you upload (price lists, policies, menus).
- A number included. Every plan includes local US or Canadian numbers, bought instantly in the dashboard.
- Simple, high-volume FAQ calls. If most of your calls are "what are your hours, how much is X, do you cover my area," per-call pricing adds up quickly, and a flat plan doesn't.
One limitation to know: on phone calls, Talksy's assistant answers from the written instructions you give it, not from uploaded documents, so keep the facts callers need in those instructions.
What would 150 calls a month cost?
A rough worked example, using each company's published prices as of October 2026. Smith.ai's AI Pro plan lists a 150-call tier at $1.80 per call, which works out to about $270 a month before any overage. Its human receptionist plans start at $300 for 30 calls, with the Basic plan at $810 for 90 calls (receptionist pricing).
On Talksy, 150 short calls of around two minutes each is about 300 minutes, which fits the Growth plan at $49 a month, including 5,000 WhatsApp and Telegram messages. Longer calls would need Scale at $149 for 1,000 minutes.
The comparison isn't like for like, though. Smith.ai's price buys booking, transfers, integrations and the option of a human. Talksy's buys answers.
Who should choose which?
Choose Smith.ai if your calls need judgment, booking into a calendar, warm transfers, or CRM/legal-software integration, or if callers expect a person. Smith.ai's AI-first plans give you a path to humans when needed.
Choose Talksy if your calls and messages are mostly repeat questions, you want WhatsApp and Telegram covered too, and you'd rather pay a small flat fee than per call. Start with the 14-day free trial; no card is needed.
